Carlito Brigante Out Of Grand National
Carlito Brigante will miss the Grand National on Saturday after he was found to be lame on Friday morning. The Karen McLinktock trained horse had been as big as 66/1 for the race but plenty had backed the horse each-way but he will now not be in the field to the disappointment of connections. The news came after the morning declarations so no reserves are able to take his place which means that we will only have 39 runners for the big race.
All the other horses have stood their ground for the race with Shutthefrontddor set to start a very warm favourite in the Grand National Betting. It will be AP McCoy's last ride in the race and bookmakers are expecting a massive gamble on the Jonjo O'Neill trained chaser on Saturday morning as a result and either way it will develop into a major story.
In other news, officials at Aintree watered the track with 4-5mm on Thursday night with the weather set fair for Friday with the current ground conditions described as good to soft, good in places on all courses at the track. They are likely to be considered the ideal conditions for the National itself on Saturday afternoon and further watering has nto be ruled out if the weather continues to remain fine and warm.
