Character Building Out Of National

Trainer John Quinn was sorry to report that his Grand National fancy, Character Building has been ruled out of this years Grand National after sustaining a stone bruise.

The injury has prevented Quinn from maintaining the horse’s Aintree preparation and the stable feel it would be unfair on the horse to run in the race on that basis.

Character Building was the impressive winner of the Kim Muir Chase at the Cheltenham Festival a fortnight ago and had been the subject of considerable betting interest which had seen him at one time third favourite for the race. It is understood that he will now go for either the Irish or Scottish Nationals.
