Grand National Weights Give Three Top Mark

The Grand National weights for 2010 have awarded three horses top weight as we start the build up to the big race, Albertas Run, Madison Du Berlias and Notre Pere have each been handed a tough looking 11st 10lbs for the big race. At this stage there is no real sign that any of those three will take their chances at Aintree and this weight may put connections off further.

Other notable weights include that of Mon Mome who was the brilliant winner last year carrying 11st, he has been risen 7lbs for the 2010 race as he bids for a second success over th big fences. The two favourites at this stage are Tricky Trickster and Niche Market who will head to Aintree carrying the same weight of 11st 4lbs, Tricky Trickster just pipped Niche Market in the Aon Chase and they are likely to be the ones to watch at Aintree. Boylesports are unable to split them following the weight announcements with both available at 12/1 to claim the win. The handicapper appears to have penalised those who have won over the National fences in the past with the two Dessie Hughes runners carrying more than they would have hoped, Black Apalachi will have 11st 6lbs while Becher Chase Winner Vic Venturi will carry the same weight around the 4miles 4furlongs.

There are some cracking prospects carrying less than 11st and they include Big Fella Thanks for Paul Nicholls who ran well last year and he has been awarded 10st 12lbs, he has been running over hurdles this season but on last years form should have good chances. The Richard Lee trainer Le Beau Bai is an interesting candidate, he ran well in the Welsh Grand National and will have 10st 13lbs on his back on April 10th should he take his chance as expected.
