The current favourite for the Grand National is Big Fella Thanks and he has been cut even further in the betting after Ruby Walsh chose him as his ride for the Aintree showpiece. Walsh had the pick of the Paul Nicholls and Willie Mullins runners for the National but has chose to be on board the Greatwood Gold Cup winner for the race on the 10th April.
There had been much speculation as to which horse Ruby Walsh would ride with Tricky Trickster the other main contender for the jockey but he has ended up on Big Fella Thanks. Paddy Power now have him as short as 7/1 to win the race next Saturday and he seems likely to go off as the well backed favourite when the race gets underway. He came in 6th last year and after a good season looks to be in prime shape and condition for a big assault on the race, and with just 10st 12lbs on his back he looks the ideal candidate.
The JP McManus team has also started to finalise its jockey bookings with all eyes on the potential ride of AP McCoy. The Champion jockey has never won the 2010 Grand National and has the choice between Can't Buy Time and Don't Push It as he bids to end his drought. It looks as though Can't Buy Time is the front runner leaving Richie McLernon on board Don't Push It at Aintree. The youngster Paul Townend looks to be in for a big day as he gets the ride on the well backed Arbor Supreme for William Mullins and he is not without a chance. With jockey bookings now being confirmed we are getting very close to the big race and at the moment all the talk is about the Big Fella.
