The wait is finally over and AP McCoy has decided to ride Don't Push It in this weekend's Grand National as he bids to win his first National. McCoy has had 14 failed attempts at winning the world's most famous steeplechase and he clearly feels that Don't Push It is the one more likely to end the drought for him. The Champion Jockey is the most famous man in the sport and has won just about every race but is in danger of becoming more famous for not winning the Grand National than any of his other big achievements. It was a difficult decision by all accounts to overlook Can't Buy Time with the bookies struggling to split the pair.
Don't Push It was disappointing at Cheltenham last month when he was pulled up but McCoy is confident that was just a blip and he can figure in the National. It will be his first run over the fences which is always a worry but if he takes to them then he could go close. There is always a fair amount of money wagered on McCoy to finally end his National hoodoo and that is expected to be the same this year. Don't Push It is currently priced at 25/1 with Ladbrokes which might well prove to be good value come Saturday Evening. JP McManus has four runners in the race with no obvious candidate but in the end McCoy has plumped for Don't Push It and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. He did win at Aintree last season so clearly enjoys the track and connections are confident of a big run and McCoy for one is desperate to claim the win.
