We may be many months away from the 2011 Grand National but already planning is underway for potential runners, Niche Market who was an Irish Grand National winner in 2009 has been moved to the yard of Paul Nicholls ahead of another Aintree tilt. He was well fancied for the Grand national earlier this year but was pulled up to the disapointment of his connections, the move of yard is further fall out from the Harry Findlay saga. Findlay moved Big Fella Thanks from the Champion Trainer after a perceived lack of support over his recent ban, which left a slot open at Ditcheat for a Grand National horse and Niche Market has happily filled that spot.
Previously Niche Market was trained by Bob Buckler who will no doubt be sad at the loss of a potential Grand National Winner. Nicholls though is the trainer that everyone wants their horse with and at the moment there is no sign of that changing. It is almost guaranteed that a Nicholls horse will be shorter in the betting than it would normally would due to the reputation he has built up in recent years. The success of Denman and Kauto Star have brought a huge amount of limelight to the yard in the past few years, and Niche Market owner Graham Regan clearly saw his opportunity and approached Nicholls.
