Grand National Favourite Nil Desperandum Put Down

The Grand National favourite Nil Desperandum unfortuately was put down after a serious injury at Uttoxeter last week.

The 10-year-old, fourth in the 2006 Grand Natioinal and sixth in 2005, shattered a pastern at the second jump of the Midlands Grand National and was pulled up by his jockey.

"He shattered a pastern the second he landed. He jumped the fence fine and it just happened on landing," said trainer Venetia Williams.
