Philson Run on target for Aintree Grand National

Philson Run on target for the Aintree Grand National following his excellent showing in the totesport.com Classic Chase at Warwick at the weekend. Philson Run came fourth in the Grand National last April and this was his first run back this season since that run last April. He is very much a regular in these staying handicap chases having scooped the Eider and the Midlands National in previous seasons and he plugged on but was always fighting a losing battle behind the winner from the second last.

Totesport put in Philson Run as a 25-1 chance for the 2008 Grand National at Aintree this year, with trainer Nick Williams confirming the race will be the 12-year-old's target. It is great to see a horse like this plying his trade in the races that he should be rather than running in hurdle races or at distances short of his best to protect a handicap mark.

He is 2lb higher than his last win so is not that badly handicapped and this was a cracking comeback.
