Beef and Salmon Chickens Out

Beef and Salmon chickens out of taking his place at the head of the Grand National weights and to be quite frank we are not surprised. On this site we were very surprised to hear that the multiple Group One winner was going to have a shot at the Aintree race, as we have a firm view here that the Beef just does not travel well. We also think that his jumping leaves a lot to be desired and taking on these National fences would just about end his career.

His trainers Michael Hourigan, has finally seen the light as he thinks that carrying top weight was just not the way to go. Seemingly everyone who has ridden him suggested the Aintree Grand National, but Michael Hourigan has got this one right and instead is heading to the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse over Easter.

Hourigan said: "Beef is not going to run in the English National and as things stand he'll be entered for the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday and he's a possible to take his chance there."
