Mr Pointment Grand National Odds

As Mr Pointment Grand National odds have drifted in recent weeks since the weights have been announced and he is an intended runner in the £50,000 Coolfun Ltd Grimthorpe Chase in what will be his last outings before the Grand National at Aintree on April 5. Mr Pointment is now generally a 14/1 chance after he was given a very tough weight following his decisive win over Bewelys Berry in the Becher Chase at Aintree in November. Mr Pointment comes up against the Grand National favourite in Cloudy Lane in the Coolfun Ltd Grimthorpe Chase and the outcome of this race will have an impact on the Grand National betting.

Mr Pointment's win in the Becher Chase was a very impressive performance because he was having only his fifth race over fences. However, that lack of experience wasn't apparent in the Becher Chase race, for he jumped really well and, going on from the sixth, made the rest and stuck on well when challenged after the last. Only lightly raced, he should have plenty of improvement in him, and, though yet to tackle extreme trips, he got this 3m2f well and looks every inch a potential Grand National type.

Paul Nicholls was disappointed with the heavy weight he was given for the Grand National as he knows that any horse with a weight over 11 stone is going to be a tall order.
