Grand National Trial Races - Hennessy Gold Cup 2012

The Hennessy Gold Cup is perhaps more commonly known as a trial for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham, however due to its distance of over 3 miles it often attracts plenty of potential Grand National horses to the race. Grand National punters are well advised to watch the Hennessy very closely for those horses who have jumped well and are staying on through the line, and that does not necessarily mean they are at the front of the field with the big boys.

Latest Grand National 2013 Odds

Last season we saw a number of Grand National horses head to Newbury for the Hennessy and it is looking like that will be the same again in 2011, we are set to see the likes of Niche Market, Big Fella Thanks and The Package take their chances in top class company. It would be a big surprise to see any of those three Grand National hopefuls win the Hennessy but connections will be looking for them to run a big race and prove they are on the right track for the National.

One interesting past winner of the Hennessy is State Of Play who after winning in 2006 has since gone onto be placed in the Grand National twice in good style. With that in mind punters should watch the Hennessy very closely indeed this season as we look set to have a field packed full of potential Grand National contenders.
